Job
Overview: Public Transport Infrastructure Engineer
The Public Transport
Infrastructure Engineer plays a critical role in planning, designing, and
maintaining public transport infrastructure across Kigali. This includes bus
stops, stations, shelters, signage, and other passenger amenities.
Your work will ensure infrastructure
is safe, accessible, reliable, and operationally ready, improving the overall
experience for commuters in Kigali.

Key
Responsibilities
The role has several core
responsibilities, including infrastructure planning, design, maintenance,
operational support, and documentation. Here’s a breakdown:
1.
Infrastructure Planning & Design
- Identify strategic locations for new bus stops and
stations based on field surveys, route analysis, and accessibility
assessments.
- Develop and implement technical design standards
for bus stops, shelters, passenger seating, signage, lighting, and safety
markings.
- Prepare standard drawings and infrastructure
guidelines ensuring compliance with best practices.
- Ensure designs are accessible, safe, and align with
urban mobility standards.
Impact: Well-planned bus stops reduce travel time, improve commuter
satisfaction, and enhance operational efficiency.
2.
Bus Station & Terminal Management
- Oversee daily operations at bus stations and
priority terminals.
- Ensure cleanliness, safety, and functionality of
stations.
- Manage passenger flow, boarding arrangements, and crowd
control at terminals.
- Maintain station amenities, including toilets, seating,
information boards, and lighting.
- Address operational issues promptly in collaboration
with planning and operations teams.

passenger experiences and improved public transport adoption.
3.
Infrastructure Maintenance
- Conduct routine inspections of bus stops,
shelters, signage, and stations.
- Identify maintenance needs and coordinate timely
interventions with contractors and maintenance teams.
- Maintain an updated inventory of infrastructure
assets and consumables.
- Support long-term maintenance planning and asset
lifecycle management.

Operational Support & Documentation
- Keep accurate inspection reports, incident logs, and
station management records.
- Update planning, operations, and management teams on
infrastructure readiness for new routes or upgrades.
- Assist in the rollout of new passenger facilities and
improvements.

Minimum
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Transport
Engineering, Urban Planning, Architecture, or related field.
- 2–4 years
of experience in infrastructure planning, site supervision, public works,
or facility management.
Preferred
- Experience in transport infrastructure or public
space design.
- Familiarity with urban mobility systems and bus
station operations.
- Experience with maintenance planning or asset
management.
- Knowledge of GIS or mapping tools is an
advantage.
